New! Creation Workshop – Songwriter’s Circle

Wednesdays, April 7 thru May 26
With Wanda Harland
Experience the synergy of having numerous musicians and poets sharing their songs and talents together. Participants will be invited to write a song each week inspired by topics and themes included in the Sunday Celebration Services at UCOP. Guest speakers and discussions on topics relevant to the creative arts will also be offered, including the areas of Copywriting, Recording, Performance Venues, Ministry, and more. Join facilitator Wanda Harland for this workshop to revive the creative poet and songster within you. Love offering.
Wanda Harland, a member of Unity Church of Overland Park, has been sharing her creative energies and works with small groups for nearly 25 years. She has a passion for dwelling in a creative flow and a strong desire to inspire and help draw out the creativity within others. She believes that musical moments that inspire and encourage in life are eternal. Quoting Dr. Wayne Dyer, "Don’t let your song die within you."

Have you wanted to begin meditating but weren't sure how to get started? Have you tried meditation, but had problems? If so, then this is the class for you. We will explore the benefits of meditation as well as how to set up your meditation practice to be successful in your meditations. Love offering.
Craig McAndrew has been in the counseling field since 1996, a member of the spiritual counseling team at Unity Church of Overland Park since 2001, and is the author of the book entitled, “Forgiving Judas: A Man’s Journey to Forgive His Brother.” With specialization in addictions and compulsive behaviors, Craig’s work with clients is a ‘wholistic’ approach helping them to find balance in their physical, emotional, social and spiritual lives.
In the Presence Meditation

This meditation provides the opportunity to go into a deep experience of the Presence. Meditation does wonderful things to our human bodies, giving them vital time to revitalize and heal themselves. At the same time, our souls experience their real, true selves, going to the place inside that is timeless and eternal. After the meditation, there will be a sacred prayer circle to share and honor one another’s prayer intentions. You’ll experience such serenity you won’t want it to end. Love offering.
Debra Darpel Baker has been helping people to heal their lives for 20 years as a spiritual counselor, energy worker, Reiki Master and teacher. She is a gifted medium and intuitive whose readings have been described as “life changing,” “profound,” and “extremely accurate.”

If you would like to make a deeper commitment to your church family, then you are invited to attend our New Member Class. We will explore the teachings and history of the Unity movement and of Unity Church of Overland Park. You will learn about the ways you can serve and be served by the ministry, as well as make lasting relationships with others. To become a member, you must attend at least two of the three classes and be present to receive the membership blessing on May 9.

In the Beginning: The Metaphysics of the Creative Process

The biblical story of creation contains ancient wisdom that is relevant to creating anything in your life you want. We will discover this wisdom by reading the story metaphysically—looking at what the words symbolize. In this 2-hour class we will illuminate the steps to the creative process and a new way of understanding the Bible, as well as learning a spiritual tool that you can put to work in your life immediately. Barbara Hadley is a Licensed Unity Teacher and is certified by Spiral Pathways Ministries. She works at Silent Unity and is a ministerial student at Unity Institute.
2012: Debunking the Myths

With 2012 fast approaching, we are increasingly inundated with information about this seemingly ominous date. During this class, we will explore the legends and facts around the year 2012. Information from numerous spiritual traditions as well as from Steffany's own practice will be presented and examined. This class is appropriate for all individuals in spiritual practice.
Steffany Barton is a Registered Nurse and Reiki master who is an active member or UCOP. She has served the spiritual community in Kansas City over the past seven years as an intuitive, medium, and teacher.
