Affinity Groups

Couples Connection. welcomes all committed couples for fellowship and community. Come get acquainted with other Unity couples. We will usually meet on the FOURTH FRIDAY of each month for an outing or hosted pot-luck. A detailed invitation is sent by email each month, and the activity is also posted in the bulletin. Green Team. Our mission is, "To promote stewardship of the environment and in awareness of our oneness with the earth". It's major areas of interest include: (1) Communications, (2) Education, (3) Sustainable Living (recycling, energy conservation, waste minimization) and (4) Natural Resources. The environmental committee is planning a number of exciting new activities for our church. To be part of it, or for more information, call Mike McCord at (913) 829-3854.

Men's Group. Meets at 8 a.m., first Saturday of each month for breakfast, networking and fellowship. Come at 7 a.m. to prepare breakfast. After the meal, stay for an inspirational guest speaker. Peace in Action. Meets 2nd Tuesday of each month 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Our mission is "We are ripples of peace connecting and communicating peace, raising awareness of peace and proving the possibility of peace".  The group continues to bring forward peace activities, events, and also sponsors classes and workshops.  For more information about the Peace in Action Group and how you can become involved, contact Lori Woodley at lawoodley@aol.com.

Recycled Teens. A group of men and women of all ages, who feel like recylced teens and wish to celebrate life with style. Many are retired but not all. We meet for breakfast or lunch on the second Wedesday of each month, and all are invited. Details are posted in the Sunday Bulletin. Singles. Meets the first Monday of each month at 7pm for planning of monthly events. Women's Group. Join in the fun at 12:30 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month for a general meeting, group activities and motivational guest speakers. Events are scheduled throughout the month, so sign up to receive the weekly newsletter by e-mail.

Support Groups

Al-Anon. A fellowship of family and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope in order to deal with their common problems. Meets at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Alcoholics Anonymous. Weekly meetings are at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays and at noon on Tuesday. AA is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. Every Wednesday and the last Monday of the month are open meetings.

Co-dependents Anonymous. Weekly meetings begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. This is a 12-step program to help individuals face and work through your co-dependency issues.

Narcotics Anonymous. A 12-step program for those, for whom drugs have become a major problem. Meeting regularly we help each other stay clean. Meetings are Mondays 7-8 p.m.

Overeaters Anonymous. A 12-step program that meets from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. each Wednesday and from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday. Come for support to turn over your food issues to a higher power.

Stand Up Parenting. Meets at 7 p.m. each Tuesday. Tough Love is a support organization for parents and family members of persons struggling with unacceptable behaviors. Come join this circle of people who can help you understand and meet your current challenges.


Wednesday Winners: Debtors Anonymous If you overspend or under-earn, please join us! Our goal is living financially solvent one day at a time using the 12 steps. The group meets at 7 p.m. each Wednesday.

 

On-going Classes and Groups

A Course in Miracles. meets Thursdays 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with Bill Frock. Learn to live from a place of wisdom and love in life rather than guilt and fear. Materials can be purchased at CommUnity Books and Gifts.

Boundary Busters. meets each Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.. This adult Sunday School is an open book discussion group that examines books of the highest universal principles of love, peace, and oneness. Please come and join us! The group is currently reading Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling by Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Experiencing the Bible. meets each Sunday 10:10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. with Barbara Hadley and Eric Page. What does the Bible have to do with you? Make the Bible relevant to your conversations, your studies and your prayer time. October’s topic is the History of the Bible and November’s topic is Discoveries in Bible Archaeology. We also include the 12 Powers in our discussion. Newcomers are always welcome.

Joel Goldsmith - Infinite Way Study Group. meets Wednesdays 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with Dwight Briggs. Explore how the belief in two powers can inhibit our demonstration of God Realization.

Kansas City Cancer Healing Project. Provides hands-on energy healing on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Love offering accepted. Call the church to schedule an appointment (913) 649-1750.

Reiki Circle. Meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Reiki is a natural healing method effecting mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well being. This circle is open for practitioners as well as those who want to experience Reiki for the first time. No preregistration is required; love offering will be accepted.

Speak Peace. Meets 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, October 2 with Lori Woodley. The Peace in Action Group is sponsoring this activity. Practice Compassionate Communication in a sacred circle of trust and respect. This session will focus on the skill of self empathy.  Everyone is welcome.
