Our Haiti Response - We made a difference!

We raised over $16,400 for Heart to Heart International to support Haiti Relief efforts. In addition, we exceeded our goal of donating 500 Care Kits of personal hygiene items to Heart to Heart International. Thank you to all who generously gave from their hearts and contributed to the donation and creation of 1,000 Care Kits.

Our Prayer for Haiti
We pray, remembering that God is greater than any challenge. We affirm that the Spirit of God is abundantly present in Haiti right now – bringing comfort to heal the hurting hearts and wisdom to guide the next steps. We see resources streaming in to provide support wherever it is needed and God’s love enfolding all. Amen.

Pack-a-Backpack - Summer Outreach - held annually in the summer, filling backpacks with all the supplies they need for a joyful start for the school year. Backpacks are distributed to individuals through the following helping agencies:  Community Linc, Restart Inc, Safehome, St Vincent’s and our own spiritual community.

Planning Team Meeting - 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 6. You are invited to join the planning team and help coordinate this year’s Pack-a-Backpack Outreach Program. Kansas City AIDS Walk – Be a part of a moving experience. This annual event provides funding to local AIDS service organizations including: Good Samaritan Project, SAVE Inc, Hope Care Center and Kansas City Free Health Clinic. This event is held in early Spring.

C.O.P.P. – Care of Poor People – Assisting the poor and homeless through two events. The Survival Event, held in around Easter and Christmas saves lives by giving out the warm clothing and the materials that the poor and homeless need to survive the winter. Easter Basket Outreach – providing Easter baskets for senior citizens, foster children or AIDS patients.

American Red Cross Blood Drives – held twice a year

Christmas Outreach – sharing the season with the Greater Kansas City area and our own spiritual community. Agencies supported include Hope Center, Marty Lane House, Kaw Valley Center, Cornerstones of Care and our own Unity Church of Overland Park families in need. Harvesters Community Food Network – collecting donations of non-perishable food items and household products to support our community. Items are distributed Harvesters to the community through 550 agencies. Collections taken during the week and on Sundays. www.harvesters.org.
