One way we might consider describing a beloved community would be to ask ourselves if it is one that Jesus would advocate. In other words, is it without requirements of social status? Is it open to all and based upon connection and friendship amongst its members? Do it members come together in partnership where individual gifts and services are shared and collectively offered for the greater benefit of all? Today, we’ll take a look at how such a community can be created, nurtured, and sustained.
Eileen was ordained a Unity Minister in 2009 and served as Associate Minister for Unity Church of Overland Park, Kansas for four years. Her role included the management of ministry prayer teams, congregational care programs guest speaker programs, adult spiritual growth classes and oversight responsibility of volunteer teams, community service/outreach programs, and worship coordination. In 2013, she followed Spirit’s call to Unity of Traverse City where she continues to serve as the senior minister. Her leadership has led to the ministry paying off its mortgage in 2017, making upgrades and remodeling many aspects of the campus building and grounds, guiding the congregation to the attainment of a Level C Unity EarthCare Congregation, expanding its community outreach programs, celebrating the ministry’s 35th anniversary in 2018, and entering into conversations with Habitat for Humanity in late 2019 for a potential donation of a parcel of the church grounds for use in their homebuilder program.
She has two adult sons who continue to make their homes in Houston. They and her daughters-in-law have blessed her with seven beautiful grandchildren.
