Celebrating 50 Years of Unity Church of Overland Park
On Sunday, June 1, our beloved community came together for an unforgettable celebration: Boldly Forward: A Legacy in Motion, marking 50 years of Unity Church of Overland Park. It was a day filled with gratitude, music, connection—and a bold call to shape our future together.
We began the morning with a heartfelt Jubilee Celebration Service, featuring the inspiring presence of Rev. Jacquie Fernández, Rev. Patricia Bass, Rev. Bob Barth, and Rev. Eileen Stulak along with touching video messages from Rev. Greg Barette and a clip from a talk Rev. Mary Omwake gave in 2014 declaring “there is something really wonderful happening at UCOP.” We also watched the final performance ever given by our beloved songbird, Molly Hammer, an empowering rendition of “Everything New” by Daniel Nahmod sung just for us in 2020. Their words and music reflect the deep spiritual roots of our church and the bright horizon ahead.
The Heart of the Day: A FUNdraiser Filled with Spirit
After a lively lunch with food trucks from Taco Republic and TC’s Fully Loaded, and desserts from Lara’s Cakes and Bakes, we gathered for a high-energy Paddle Raiser FUNdraiser—a true highlight of the day.
With hearts wide open and spirits lifted, our community raised their paddles in a collective expression of generosity and shared purpose. Every gift, every gesture, echoed our belief in Unity’s mission and in the possibilities that await in our next chapter.
This wasn’t just about raising funds—it was about raising energy, raising intention, and raising our commitment to serve and grow.
Music, Memories, and Momentum
Throughout the day, we were moved and uplifted by the incredible musical talents of EnVee, Pancho Javier, Bukeka, Terry Swope, and the UCOP Band. Their voices, harmonies, and presence created a vibrant atmosphere of celebration and spiritual alignment.
As laughter mingled with tears, and stories were shared across generations, we witnessed the living spirit of Unity—woven through every moment of the day.
