Affordable Housing – CALL TO ACTION!
As the Lenexa Habitat for Humanity project enters the public hearing phase, our most important action is showing up together at the Lenexa Planning Commission meeting on February 2.
Let me be clear: there is an organized opposition to the Habitat project ready to turn out 75 or more people. So, we need more. A strong, visible, values-driven turnout will matter. Showing up is how we help ensure it moves forward.
Where: Lenexa City Hall 17101 W 87th St Pkwy, Lenexa, KS 66219
When: Monday, February 2nd
Arrive at 6:30 pm (meeting starts at 7 pm, but early arrival means you get a seat in the hearing room)
Unity Church of Overland Park (10000 Marshall Dr. Lenexa) is welcoming all knitters, crocheters, weavers, macrame-ers, fiber artists… ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME!
Their Yarn Blessings group will be lending expertise and guidance as we assemble this collective project made from all of the yarn that passed through our network in this past fall’s Good Neighbor Conversations.

Eldercare Committee ventures into Legislative Advocacy:
To ensure future CAPABLE programs – including Johnson County! – have access to sustainable funding, our Eldercare Committee is meeting with JoCo state legislators ahead of KDADS budget hearings!
The waiver amendment that would fund CAPABLE goes to…
- The House Appropriations Committee on Feb 2nd
- The Senate Ways and Means Committee on Feb 10th
I thought Good Faith Network only did county-level work?
You’d be right! Except there are occasions when we need to press on a lever to impact our issue campaign at the local level – and this is one such occasion!
Currently, the CAPABLE pilot program is just that – a pilot that is dependent on a one-time grant from KDADS. Passing this waiver amendment would give Midland Care (and all Medicaid-enrolled home health agencies) a new reimbursement code with which to fund CAPABLE programs indefinitely.
