We are experiencing community, cultural, and global change at a rapid pace. Our newsfeeds are overflowing with content that simultaneously makes us feel like laughing, crying, and shouting in rage. Many of us are left overstimulated and absolutely exhausted.
These changing times are a call to action. Unity’s fifth principle states that we must live the truth that we know. It invites us to take our spiritual awareness out into the world as a lived expression. Yet, sometimes knowing exactly what ours is to do can feel confusing or even overwhelming.
The process of understanding what ours is to do begins with understanding who we are and who we have come to be. Learning to identify and listen to our inner compass can lead to positive change in our lives and our world. As we become centered in our True Selves, creative solutions arise, and we begin to put feet to our spiritual gifts.
“Your community, even your global community, needs people who are on an ongoing spiritual journey of discovering their gifts for sacred service; and for people to see themselves as stewards of those gifts.” – Rev. Kelly Isola
Who have you come to be? How do you experience your unique expressions? What ways are your gifts being called into action?
Identifying your values and gifts may come through processes such as meditation, reflective journaling, or participation in a small group dedicated to the process. Discernment of your personal values and your spiritual gifts can help align you with sacred service opportunities that provide a greater sense of meaning and purpose in your life.
It invites you to consider the ways in which you are living in service: to the Divine, to yourself, to sentient beings in your life, to your local community, and to the global community.
If you are ready to dive deeper into the self-discovery process and would like the support of a heart-centered peer group, check out the upcoming Spiritual Gifts program at UCOP hosted by Rev. Jen Hutchins.
