A Message from Rev. Jacquie Fernandez, UCOP Senior Minister:
May we use this time leading up to and through the Presidential Inauguration to remind ourselves and to state clearly that at Unity Church of Overland Park, we stand for peace.
Through prayer, we anchor our thoughts and action in love, in compassion, and in caring for all people.
As such we unequivocally condemn terrorism and political violence in all its forms, no matter what the reason or source. We align with these words by
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr: It has always been the responsibility of the church to broaden horizons and challenge the status quo… If you will accept the challenge with devotion and valor, you will lead the misguided men of your nation from the darkness of falsehood and fear to the light of truth and love.
We stand for peace, we model peace, we pray for peace. We are peace.
Please join us in prayer for more love and peace in our hearts, in our homes and communities, and in the world.
In prayer, we listen.
In community, we listen.
We commit ourselves to the effort of finding a way forward together in peace.
We affirm these statement in and through the nature of the living Christ, Amen.
Please join us Wednesday January 20, 2021 at 9:00am CST on Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85472813672?pwd=Z2Y1N0J1RnhnVXF5L2EvTVp6MjV4UT09 for our pre-Inauguration prayer.
